Why Being Consistent Matters

You can do all the planning, all the preparing. You can line up all the accountability partners, tell everyone you know. You can even start your new venture (business, exercise, learning, relationship, etc…) but if you do not act consistently all your effort is for naught.

Imagine this… You are taking a three day hike. You plan your route, you pack your backpack, you say good by to your loved ones and you set out. The first day is great! You cover the required distance, you make it to your first night’s destination. You even have a little celebratory snack. The next day, you don’t go anywhere, you just kinda hang around. As a matter of fact you hang around for multiple days, just kind of milling around. You do hike a little, but you always end up returning to that first camp, promising yourself tomorrow will be different. Get the picture?…

Nothing matters if you do not act. All the learning, preparing, swearing, sacrifice, pain and tears do not matter. Even actions do not matter if they do not move you progressively forward. You can start your diet 100 times but until you begin to lose weight and keep losing weight, will your actions matter. There’s no benefit to keep losing-gaining-losing the same 5lbs.

So how do you build consistency? Read on…
